2016-2017 Rotary China Scholarship Application (8/16-9/30)

1. Award recipients:National students studying in master's and doctoral programs at various domestic university research institutes.

2. Scholarship amount:

  • Doctoral course: NT$160,000 per student.
  • Master class: NT$120,000 per student.

3. Award conditions:Young students studying in domestic university research institutes who meet the following conditions may apply for scholarships.

  1. Those who really need this scholarship to assist in completing academic research and paying tuition fees.
  2. Applicants with good academic performance in school shall be under the age of 35 in principle.
  3. Those registered in each Rotary district or school district.
  4. Children who are not Rotarian members (including honorary members).
  5. The principle is for those who are not on-the-job trainees
  6. Those who issue a letter promising that the scholarship cannot be used for other purposes.
  7. Those who have special academic talents or contributions and are willing to give back to Rotary after graduation.
  8. Applicants must be recommended by local Rotary clubs.
  9. Each Rotary Club recommends one student. However, for every donation (including pledges) exceeding NT$200,000 from August 1 to November 30, 2016, a scholarship will be named in the name of the "Rotary Club" and one student from the doctoral program will be given priority, and every time it exceeds NT$150,000, one student from the master's program will be recommended first. The more donations, the more priority places will be recommended.

4. Application date:
From August 16 to September 30, 2016, applicants should complete two copies of the application form and submit relevant supporting documents to the Rotary Club in the area where their household registration is located. If duplicate applicants are found, their qualifications will be disqualified.

5. Review and announcement:

  • Preliminary review: Each Rotary Club will set up a preliminary review committee to review the necessary application documents and home visits.
  • Review: A review committee will be established by each regional director's office to review interviews on professionalism and character.
  • Final review: The foundation will convene a meeting of directors and supervisors to review the list of winners and announce it.

7. Recommended dates and registration locations:
In accordance with the provisions of Article 3, Item 8 of these Measures, each Rotary Club shall issue an official letter of recommendation after preliminary review before October 31, 2016, and send it by registered mail to the office of the regional governor with a postmark as proof. Overdue applications will not be accepted.

8. Scholarship payment:

  1. January: Awarded uniformly at the award ceremony held by the foundation; February: Awarded at the sorority's welcome event; when meeting regional annual meetings: sent to each regional annual meeting for award by the regional director. (Title scholarships must be awarded by donors). The remainder will be sent to various regional care Rotary clubs for award on a monthly basis.
  2. During the period of receiving the scholarship, the awarded students must maintain contact with the designated Rotary Club, attend regular meetings and submit a "Research Report" and an "Award Speech" of approximately 800 words each to the Foundation and the Care Club.

9. Others:During the period when a student is receiving the award, if any of the following circumstances occur, his or her qualification to receive the award will be cancelled:

  1. Anyone who violates any of the rules for awarding prizes.
  2. Those who fail to attend regular meetings of the care society in person, or who fail to show up after being notified by the care society.
  3. Those who have bad behavior and are punished by the school such as demerits.
  4. Any words or deeds that harm the reputation of Rotary.
  5. Those who are on leave of absence or have no news or contact for more than a month.
  6. Those who do not participate in the fraternity of award-winning students without any reason (recipient students are obliged to participate in the fraternity of award-winning students).
  7. The unfortunate deceased.
